Mad Bad and Dangerous To Know
By Aaron Proctor
Here's a new feature to Brian's World. It's Aaron Proctor's "Mad Bad and Dangerous To Know", a regularly updated feature which talks about various topics related to New Wave music. You'll also find some music reviews written by Aaron in the music section later. If you have questions or comments you can send them to Aaron at grsapnuwaver@aol.com
Aaron's Intro:
I'd first like to thank Brian for giving me the opportunity to write articles for his wonderful website. Brian is truly a pleothora and resource of New Wave knowledge.
My name is Aaron Proctor, I'm 21 years old, and reside in Pasadena, California. I am obsessed with New Wave and have been since I was 14 years old. I am an on-again-off-again (hopefully more on than off!) DJ and somewhat of a New Wave "boy wonder" - as people who are 21 years old aren't really supposed to know this much about New Wave. I used to have a weekly Internet radio show entitled New Wave Wednesdays - and you can still check out the playlists.
New Wave is such a beautiful genre of music with SO many groups to choose from. To me, New Wave is a genre and not an era. It covers so much ground and still exists today under the aegis of "synthpop" or "electro". My favorite groups include Pet Shop Boys, Gary Numan, B Movie, Blancmange, Strawberry Switchblade, Fancy, Telex, Spandau Ballet, China Crisis, Gang Of Four, A-ha, Erasure, Howard Jones, Kon Kan, Peter Schilling, Fehlfarben, Pete Shelley, and tons more.
"Mad, Bad & Dangerous To Know" is not just a tribute to one of my favorite groups, Dead Or Alive, but also a forum to succumb to my passion for New Wave and hopefully inform the wonderful readers of facts about groups they know and to introduce them to ones they may not already be familiar with.
