Phantom Planet
THE GUEST
Sony Records
I just found this on a listening station after hearing an interview on local radio. This is a great album. I wanna go back and get their earlier album also. Lots of catchy tunes. Their slow songs are very Radiohead sounding to me.

The Hives
VENI VIDI VICIOUS
Burning Heart/Epitaph Records
I'm into this whole garage band thing. This album is good. And their live performance I saw on MTV2 was good also. My fave tracks are 1, 2, 6, 9,... aww hell, I just really like this record.

The White Stripes
WHITE BLOOD CELLS
V2 Records
This is a pretty good album. A little more indie sounding than The Hives or The Strokes. Good catchy tunes make this album flow well. Fave tracks are 1, 2, 4, 6, 13, 16.

Neil Finn
ONE ALL
Nettwork America
I have been a huge fan of Neil Finn all the way back to his earliest work with Split Enz. Crowded House was a great band also. For some reason I have not been into his solo albums nearly as much as his earlier work- until now. ONE ALL (ONE NIL outside the US) is the best collection of tunes Neil has released since his disbanded Crowded House- in fact a lot of the songs remind me of CH's PRIVATE UNIVERSE album. The first song "The Climber" starts off the album great. The second song is a catchy mid-tempo tune with Sheryl Crow singing backing vocals (who also sings on track 9). The album is mostly filled with mid-tempo tunes, but does pick up the pace a little with a couple more "rock" tunes such as "Hole In The Ice" and "Human Kindness". All around a great album with my favorite tracks being 1, 2, 3, 8, and 10.

Garbage
BEAUTIFUL GARBAGE
Interscope Records
I'm a big Garbage fan. I've waited a long time to hear something new from them. I wasn't let down. The faster paced songs on this album are the standout's for me and there are a lot of them. Track number 7 is so beautifully retro I thought it was a new wave disc from the early eighties for a moment.

Bryan Ferry - FRANTIC
Virgin Records
Now I know everyone has been making a big deal about this album because Bryan worked with Rhett Davies again. In fact, I read nothing but good reviews about this album. Maybe I built up my expectations too much. The album is good, but not excellent. Let me say one thing though- I am not and never have been a fan of Bob Dylan or his music. I knew before I ever bought the record that chances were I wouldn't like those tracks, but I was hoping Bryan Ferry singing them would make them at least tolerable. It didn't. Standout tracks on this album are "Cruel", "Godess Of Love", "Nobody Loves Me", "Hiroshima", "One Way Love".

Jesus Jones - LONDON
MI5/Koch Entertainment
If you like Jesus Jones, especially the last few albums, then chances are you'll like most of this album also. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of material which is just not up to their usual standards. Fave tracks "Message", "Stranger", and "The Rocket Ships Of La Jolla".

Anika Moa - THINKING ROOM
Atlantic Records
An amazing singer from New Zealand. She writes some killer songs. She's got a nice voice. Reminds me of Dido a little, but Anika is a little more earthy than Dido, in my opinion. Definitely worth a listen!

The Strokes - IS THIS IT?
Arista Records
One of the best in the new "garage band" craze. This album is great.

Cracker
FOREVER
Back Porch Records/Virgin Records
I've been a mild fan of this band for several years, probably since they first made it big with songs like "Teen Angst", "Euro-trash Girl", and "Low". I think the songs on this album are just as catchy and classic as their other hits. I got to see them play at the local fair last year and it was one of the best shows I've seen in a while. The first pressing of this CD comes with a free 11 track live CD recorded in 1999. Worth the price of the CD by itself.
