All About BRiaN'S WoRLD

This page features information about Brian's World.

OBJECTIVE:
The objective of Brian's World is to entertain, inform, teach, and remind others in the Internet world about life during the 80s and to guide those who love the eighties toward good fun in the nineties and beyond.

HISTORY:
Brian's World was started way back in the spring of 1995 when I worked at WEBR Radio in Fairfax, VA. I started teaching myself HTML by looking at other pages and their HTML code. I taught myself how to put words in bold and italic, change font sizes, and add pictures. Back then a 56K was top speed for the Internet. No one had DSL, Cable modems and ISDN was just beginning to become available and was being touted as the "next big thing." I've built my pages for speed and ease of use (and still do) because I feel that everyone should be able to access the information they want and need-- even if they don't have DSL, the latest computer, or latest browser version. And the site should be easy to get around in.
My objective at the time was to create a website for the radio station. I used my personal site to experiment with manipulating HTML code and making it do what I wanted. There was no MS Explorer- Just Netscape (if I remember correctly). The web was an interesting and fun place to surf around. I'm not saying there aren't interesting things on the web, but the web was not nearly as commercialized as it is today. The closest thing you'd find to an advertisement was maybe a reciprocal link to another webpage. You won't find any pop-up adds on any of my pages. I can't stand them so I won't bother you with them either. Some pages here do have banner ads, but they all relate to the topic of the site.
Brian's World started with a few music and movie suggestions along with a few quizzes. Sixteen Candles was the first quiz I did. From there it just began to explode into more and more areas and information. I'm still adding and expanding the site even though I don't have nearly the time I used to to devote to it. I try to do at least a few updates a week.

SUPPORT:
You can support Brian's World through a few different ways to ensure its continued growth and survival. Go to the Brian's World SUPPORT PAGE to learn more.

Some CD and DVD names and photos have links embedded. Clicking on them will take you to that particular item at Amazon.com. They have consistently been a reliable online dealer for me over the past few years and I can recommend them without hesitation. I know there are other sites which are good, but I have yet to find one that has consistently provided good results. Purchasing items through links at this site will result in a commission going to Brian's World, which helps me continue to bring this site to you. Any links to online dealers have been used by myself and I have had positive experiences at that site. You will NEVER find links to dealers which I have either not used or have had bad experiences at.

I hope you enjoy your visit, spread the word about this site to your friends, and return again soon to Brian's World.
Thanks for visiting!

- Brian
