BRiaN'S WoRLD: TV Land

As you can see from my list below I hardly ever get to watch TV anymore, which I think is a damn shame. Watching TV is relaxing, but it can be educational also. I enjoy some of the various science/tech programs on The Discovery Channel and Learning Channel. But hey... You can't be learning all the time! So, if I'm not watching TV Land then I try to enjoy the following as often as I can...

Favorite Current/Recommended Television Shows: (in random order)
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (FOX)
Mondays 8PM EST
Hands down one of the funniest shows on TV in a long time! I laugh so damn hard when I watch this show I would swear my heart stops sometimes. It's easily my favorite show. Freakin' hilarious! The cast and characters are all great.
MY NAME IS EARL (NBC)
Tuesdays 9PM EST
"Karma is a funny thing." Gotta love Jason Lee. I've been a fan of Jason's since he was in all those Kevin Smith movies. Earl has been bad in the past and to make up for it and repair his karma he decides he needs to go through a huge list of the bad things he's done and make up for them. Very funny.
THE OFFICE (NBC)
Tuesdays 9:30PM EST
Great cast and writing all around. I was never a huge fan of the British version, but it was good. Maybe just a little too British for me. Steve Correll (formerly of The Daily Show) leads this show and it's just so politically incorrectly funny. Love it!
HOUSE (FOX)
Tuesdays 9PM EST
I started watching this about half-way through the first season. It just was kinda on in the background. Then I started to pick up on some of the dialogue and it was great. I like the Greg House character a lot. A really smart, well written program. Sometimes I have to close my eyes at the operation scenes. Eek!
BOSTON LEGAL (ABC)
Tuesdays 9PM EST
I started watching this in the 2004 season and discovered it was really funny. James Spader, William Shatner, Candice Bergen, and even a Golden Girl- What more could you want?!?
LOST (ABC)
Wednesdays 9PM EST
Yeah, I got hooked on this show the first season and I'm still watching it.
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (Fox)
Sundays 9PM
I watched the show's premiere episode because Danny Elfman wrote the theme song. I discovered it was actually really quirky and funny. I like it and now I'm totally hooked. Season 2 has not been as good as season 1, but I think it will get better again.
MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE (FOX)
Sundays 7PM EST
I started watching the reruns after the first season and I totally loved it. I'm not as into it as I used to be, but I still watch it whenever I can.

Previous Favorites/Recommended Television Shows: (in random order)
Andy Richter Controls The Universe
The first time I ever saw Andy Richter in anything was when he played the idiot deck hand in Chris Elliot's classic film, CABIN BOY. Then he turned up as Conan's co-host/side man. After a few years he left to pursue other things. This is what he ended up with and it was GREAT! I laughed so damn hard when I watched this show I would swear my heart stops sometimes. Freakin' hilarious! The characters worked great together.
Do Over (The WB)
This guy gets shocked in the head and somehow winds up being 14 again and in high school circa 1982. A stupid premise at first, but a really funny show. Although I don't particularly understand how the electric shock to the head lands him in 1982 again I can't think of a better way other than a time machine and that's just way too BACK TO THE FUTURE. So whatever. The point is that this show was everything THAT 80's SHOW wasn't. Instead of spending the whole show making fun of the 80s it just uses the setting of the 80s.
Smallville (The WB)
I don't watch this religiously, but I enjoy it whenever I can catch it. I really would love to sit down with a DVD box set and watch them all in order. I was never was much of a comic book reader, but I know the basic story of Superman and I like the way this show is done. I think it's a great idea and well written. I like the fact that it stars a Duke boy. It's just a well done show. Kinda lost interest in this one now.
Gilmore Girls (The WB)
Great cast and writing all around. The mother on the show is very into the 80s and there's plenty of laughs via random 70s and 80s references. I somehow lost interest at the very end of the 2001-2002 season. Haven't watched it since the 3rd season.
Roswell
This show ranked within my top 3 shows when it was on. I watched it since its premiere. It was a well done show. The Sci-Fi Channel sometimes runs repeats.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Buffy used to be one of my favorite shows. The show has had it's ups and downs over the years, interest-wise for me. Catch it in reruns or buy the DVDs.
Dawson's Creek
Watched it since it premiered up until the 3rd season when I started to lose interest. I was an occasional watcher after that.
The X-Files
One of my all-time favorite shows. Both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have said they are interested in continuing with X-Files films. We'll see if that ever happens. You can catch reruns on Sci-Fi Channel and a few other stations as well. Check your local listings for times.

Favorite Cartoon: Although I rarely get to watch cartoons anymore I do occasionally catch favorite...
Spongebob Squarepants (Nick)
Animaniacs (Fox/Nick)
The Simpsons (Fox)

Some Other Shows You Should Check Out: These shows I usually enjoy if I get a very rare chance to watch.
Late Night with Conan O'Brien (NBC)
Late Show with David Letterman (CBS)
Sabrina The Witch
Six Feet Under (HBO)
The Sopranos (HBO)

The Great and the Cancelled: These shows were great and I liked them. So, of course they were cancelled. How many do you remember?
GET A LIFE (Fox) - This was a great series. Chris Elliott is a comic genius. Got the DVD (vol. 1) and I LOVE it. It was sooo good to see this show again. I can't wait for other volumes.
THE BEN STILLER SHOW (Fox) - What more could you ask for than Ben, Jeaneane Garofalo, and Andy Dick all on the same show!!
FREAKS AND GEEKS (Fox) - This show was great. You can catch reruns on Fox Family.
GROSS POINTE (WB) - This show was really funny I thought.
MARSUPILAMI (ABC/Disney) - (Can sometimes be seen on The Disney Channel) A great cartoon.
MAYBE IT'S ME (WB) - This show was pretty funny. Good cast.
MISFITS OF SCIENCE - Starred Courtney Cox and some other people who I forget now.
PROBE - Starred Parker Stevenson as a cool scientist/inventor.
THE TOM ARNOLD SHOW - I liked all three of Tom Arnold's series.
UNDECLARED (Fox) - Another Judd Apatow show. This show was funny also. So, of course, it was cancelled.
V: THE SERIES (NBC) - Based on the hit double mini-series. This was the best thing going on TV for sci-fi fans.
