Scritti Politti "Cupid and Psyche '85"
I absolutely LOVE this album. The album is full of perfect pop songs. Features the hits "Perfect Way" and "Wood Beez" |
Boom Crash Opera "Boom Crash Opera"
Australian band Boom Crash Opera's first album was produced by Alex Sadkin. It's a great introduction to the band and made me go out and hunt down their other albums. This is no small task because the band was not very well promoted here in the US and the albums are not easy to come by. In fact this one and the follow-up THESE HERE ARE CRAZY TIMES are the only two I've ever seen in US stores. Boom Crash Opera is most certainly one of the best unknown bands around. |
Information Society "Information Society"
The first and best album by this band. I never got into the other albums much although their second album did have a few songs I enjoyed. This is most likely the album with the most recognizable song "What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy)". |
Howard Jones "Dream Into Action"
It was this album that truly made me into a major HoJo fan. Every song on this album is a gem. My aunt took me to the concert for this album and I have been to every show in the DC area since then plus a few in California. |
Mr. Mister "Welcome To The Real World"
Every song on this album is amazing. It stands as one of my favorite albums of all time. |
Mike + The Mechanics "Mike + The Mechanics"
Mike Rutherford, from Genesis, formed this band with some other great musicians and together they wrote and recorded some amazing songs. The songs on this album have a way of making you think they sound incredibly familiar even if you've never heard them before. |
Oingo Boingo "Dead Man's Party"
I've always been a big Oingo Boingo fan. This album is a little more pop than the rest but still a super album. Features "Dead Man's Party", "Just Another Day", and the hit "Weird Science", from the movie of the same name. |
OMD - "Crush"
One of my favorite albums by OMD. Lots of great stuff on here. |
Sting "Dream of the Blue Turtles"
Sting's first solo effort after disbanding The Police. This is also my favorite. Sting went out and recruited some of the finest jazz musicians around for his new album. The title track won a Grammy for best jazz song. Features "If You Lve Somebody Set Them Free", "Russians", and "Love Is The Seventh Wave". |
Tears For Fears "Songs From The Big Chair"
The album that really put Tears For Fears on the map (and the charts). This extraordinary album features the hits "Mother's Talk", "Head Over Heels", and "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" plus other great songs. |
ABC "How To Be A Zillionaire"
Features "Be Near Me" and "Vanity Kills"
|
A-ha "Hunting High and Low"
Features "Take On Me" and "The Sun Always Shines On TV".
|
Big Audio Dynamite "This Is Big Audio Dynamite"
|
Blancmange "Believe You Me"
|
Corey Hart "Boy In The Box"
Features "Sunglasses At Night"
|
Inxs "Listen Like Thieves"
I guess it was this album that INXS really started to become well-known to the average music listener. |
Love and Rockets "Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven"
|
Alison Moyet "Alf"
Features "Invisible"
|
Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder "Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder"
|
Prefab Sprout "Two Wheels Good"
This is a greatly underrated band. Produced by Thomas Dolby this is a really good album. |
Simple Minds "Once Upon A Time"
Simple Minds' first album since their hit single from the film THE BREAKFAST CLUB, (DON'T YOU) FORGET ABOUT ME. This album has hits "Sanctify Myself" and others. |
Simply Red "Picture Book"
|
Talking Heads "Little Creatures"
|
Paul Young "The Secret Of Association"
Paul Young's second album. Features "Every Time We Go Away" and "Bite The Hand That Feeds". |
