2 Minutes Hate "Let It Eat" Ardent Records
A more raw sounding follow-up to their 1994 album.
Blur "The Great Escape" Virgin
Probably their best offering in a few years. Great Brit-pop!
The Bogmen "Life Begins At 40 Million" Arista/BMG
Kind of quirky and fun.
Tracy Bonham "The Burdens of Being Upright" Island
Boom Crash Opera "Born" BMG (Australia)
One of my all-time favorite bands. This is a more "electronic" album than any of their others. Too bad it's not available here in the USA. It should be!
Catherine Wheel "Happy Days" Fontana/Mercury
Passed on this album at first listen. I rediscovered it a few months later and have been listening regularly since.
Collective Soul "Collective Soul" Atlantic
Finn "Finn" EMI (Australia)
From the brothers who brought the world Split Enz and Crowded House. What a great album! Now available in the US under the name FINN BROTHERS on Discovery Records. Give Discovery a big hand for picking this album up when Capitol wouldn't.
Fossil "Fossil" HiFi/Sire/Warner Bros.
This band had lots of potential. It's a great album. Unfortunately, they broke up shortly after Warner Bros. dropped them from the label. Some members have gone on to form the band PROBE.
Garbage "Garbage" Almo/DGC
I've never been a big fan of Butch Vig, but this is one of my favorite albums of all time. Shirly has a great voice! Seriously, this album has an incredible selection of songs. Not a bad one in the bunch.
Gene "Olympian" Atlas/A&M
Kind of a 90's Morrissy singer. This may be what The Smiths would sound like if they were still around today.
The Greenberry Woods "Big Money Item" Sire
Incredible! Poppy! This is the definition of a catchy album. Very "Beatle-esque".
Juliana Hatfield "Only Everything" Mammoth/Atlantic
Juliana does it again.
King Crimson "THRAK" Virgin
They're baaaack! What an incredible album. What's even better is to hear them perform it live.
Letters To Cleo "Wholesale Meats and Fish" Reprise
A great follow-up to their last album.
Menswear "Nuisance" London
80's Brit-pop? Damn straight! Glad to see the return of fun pop music.
Mike & The Mechanics "Beggar On A Beach Of Gold" Atlantic
I was a little dissapointed with this album. It's definitely my least favorite M+M album. The songs didn't have the same familiararity of the others. They just didn't reach out and grab me. I do like this album despite the above review. If you liked previous M+M this is worth a listen.
Morphine "Yes" Ryko
I had never heard of this band until this album. Wish I had. Their other albums are incredible too.
Peter Murphy "Cascade" Beggars Banquet/Atlantic
Not quite as good as the early Peter Murphy albums, but a nice album just the same.
Odds "Good Weird Feeling" EEG
This band kicks ass! They are absolutely the nicest bunch of guys around. Incredibly catchy tunes. I can highly recommend all of their albums. Go see them live if you get the chance. Always a good show. Makes you want to move to Canada.
The Presidents of the USA "self titled" Columbia
Tunes with hooks and laughs.
Primus "Tales From The Punchbowl" Interscope
The Rembrants "L.P." East West/EEG
Never want to hear the "Friends" theme again. Good thing there are 14 other great songs on this album.
Sister Machine Gun "Burn" Wax Trax/TVT
The album that got me into industrial music again.
Spacehog "Resident Alien" HiFi Recordings/Sire/EEG
Nice to see 80's glam-rock make a comeback. Sorta.
Spookey Ruben "Modes Of Transportation Vol. 1" TVT
Very strange! I love it!
Spot "Spot" Ardent
Catchy guitar rock. I look forward to hearing lots more from these guys.
Various Artists "The Songs of XTC: A Testimonial Dinner" Thirsty Ear
Finally, a tribute album for on of the greatest bands of all time. I like them all.
Paul Weller "Stanley Road" Go! Discs/London/Polygram
Not the best Paul Weller album, but great just the same.
The Young Gods "Only Heaven" Interscope
Although this doesn't do for me what "TV Sky" did, I like it alot.
